Matutinal.

Now having this camera I'm obsessively taking self-portraits and pictures of buildings.

I'm consumed with the water tower across the avenue from my apartment, and the CHEF building on the Bowery. And clavicles.

Songwriting for me is often writing a couple words or a phrase down every now and again, and plugging them into songs at some point later; so my creative day often amounts to lengthy dream-journalling in the morning, keeping myself occupied artistically with photography or lunch, and just waiting for the good shit so I can jot it down in the little notebook.

Hopefully your obsession will shift to scapulas, navels, and hip bones. A showcase of your tattoos would be nice. And how about a photo journal of your feet throughout the day, on the street, propped up on a chair, sans socks. Just exactly where are your feet when inspiration strikes?

keep posting pictures of the city, if not for your own ...ahem...artistic development (the next step to artistic success clearly, is taking the exact same pictures in black and white), then for the sanity of a homesick (ok, fine, i'm from new jersey, but my point still stands) college kid stuck in rural indiana.
and as per songwriting- is there anyone who actually can write whole songs at once? i think songs end up being better if they're just pieced together.

Reminds me a lot of SF/J's blog (music critic for the New Yorker and teller of funny father stories):

"is there anyone who actually can write whole songs at once?"

I've done this, actually. Sometimes the inspiration just hits you.

i dreamt a song once. rolled out of bed and performed it. i still play it today. one of the more romantic compositions i've created. i called it "dream". if i had hosting i would post it there to share. but, alas... you'll have to take my word for it.

It's funny how enthralling collar bones are. I like to drum on mine.

I've always been obsessed with clavicles. The way they gently curve from the base of the neck outward to the tips of your shoulders. How crucial they are structurally, yet so fragile...
