Yes, sponsored by the insurance company. We felt very safe. Pete walked onstage without sticks and had to walk back off and go find some. FUNNY. I am happy to say that we all stood there in front of thousands laughing about it, not freaking out. That is the awesomeness of this rock and roll operation.

Sizable Room.
As is pretty common on these big tours, the buses here in Omaha are parked in a gigantic room adjacent to the arena. Sometimes--driving overnight, after the shows, as you do--you wake up in the morning, and step out of your bunk into these surreal grey spaces.

Orlando.
The venue was a giant Hard Rock shaped like a colosseum. It was located in a part of Universal Studios that was like a festive Times Square straddling an artificial lagoon.
I saw a fat guy wearing an I AM THE AMERICAN DREAM t-shirt.

To Coexist with the Christmas Spectacular.
As New Yorkers know, this is the season of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, featuring scads of kicking Rockettes dressed as toy soldiers and over-the-top TV ads that begin running in mid-September (really). Here are scenes of us brushing up against it.
Above: Scrap with Santa's sled looming above him. Below: xMas bureaucracy, Kirby in the stageside stable for the manger scene animals, giant drum and gifts, massive letters and hydraulic system beneath the stage, inexplicable portrait of Eisenhower next to fake rocks, floor guide in elevator.
Whoa.
Tonight's gig. Pretty freaky and great for a guy such as myself who's grown up in New York.

Phila-Swell-Phia.
The crumbling old Philadelphia Spectrum is a vibey joint; it's a happy accident that they haven't torn the arena down, there are three shiny new enormodomes for hockey, baseball, and football right next to it.
There's a banner up in the rafters noting that the Dead sold the place out 53 times. That is hip.

Sexy Sexy Commonwealth Ave.
Good night at the Agganis Arena in Boston last night. Loads of people at the post-show signing wanting me to sign their stuff. And lots of you-rock MySpace mail this morning. The sad part: we're in Philly and there'll be no time to get cheesesteaks from Jim's. To hell with delicious food, all we need is the love of the people!
